Abstract (en)

On Blake's participation in the 1780s and 1790s in an eclectic network of illuminés which included Swedenborgians, Freemasons and Cabalists who shared his interest in animal magnetism, spirit communication and erotic trances. Discusses too his apparently renewed acquaintance in 1804 with several theosophers who continued their secret meetings and occult studies over the next decade. Special attention given to Blake's associations with Richard Cosway and George Baldwin.
