Disputes Martindale's interpretation of documentary evidence for the S. Ansano altarpiece, Annunciation with Saints (Florence, Uffizi). Argues that the first document is a record of payment for carpentry in 1333; and that the second reveals that Simone Martini and Lippo Memmi were involved with the commission for the altarpiece in 1330 and again in 1332.
