Abstract (en)
Studies a 2d c. Roman statue formerly in the collection of the earls of Pembroke at Wilton House (now Rome, Museo Capitolino), its subject (a figure associated with the cult of Cybele) and its history in the 17th and 18th cs. Identifies it as the subject of one of the "new drawings" from the collection of Cassiano dal Pozzo in the British Museum (London), which records the statue as it appeared intact in Rome in the 1640s.
