Abstract (en)

On the basis of analysis of the 13th c. frescoes in the upper church of S. Francesco, Assisi, and the frescoes by Giotto in the Arena Chapel, Padua, argues that perspective in painting of ca.1300 was used to influence the spectator's pattern of circulation.
