Considers previous assertions that the Thetford Treasure--a hoard of late Roman gold jewelry and silver utensils found 1979 in Thetford--is strictly pagan. Proposes that the jewelry was a votive offering to Faunus and that the utensils were employed in a ritual honoring this Latian god. Argues that there is a Christian element in some of the symbols and inscriptions, suggesting that some of Faunus's devotees were lapsed Christians. Discusses this within the context of religious instability in Britain ca.350-400.
