Discusses the donor panel, rediscovered in 1987, from an originally nine panel altarpiece, early 16th c. (Nürnberg, S. Lorenz). The altarpiece dealing with the legend of S. Catherine, once included a sculpture group (Nürnberg, Germanisches Nationalmuseum) of the saint surrounded by angels. Argues that Georg Fütterer, the donor, devised the iconographical program and explains the reason for including SS. Catherine, Andrew and Bartholomew. Gives a reconstruction of the altarpiece.
