Examines the work of two Latin American women artists living in New York City (Porter is Argentinian; Vater is Brazilian). Notes their use of imagery from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland to express the jolt of dislocation from their native lands, and as a metaphor for the social and economic issues that shape art.
