Following discussion of the cult of the True Cross and its manifestations in Britain, relates the iconography of fols. 1v and 2r of the Book of Durrow (Dublin, Trinity College, MS 57, A.IV.5)--the cross-carpet page and the page with symbols of the Evangelists around an interlace cross--to Adomnan's De locis sanctis, arguing that the double-barred cross represents the True Cross and that the miniatures together represent a scholarly configuration of sacred areas of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem. Proposes that the Book of Durrow was produced at Iona, ca.685.
