Presents documentary evidence establishing Mateus Rodrigues as the architect of the Mosteiro de S. Maria de Seiça in the late 16th-early 17th cs. Also discusses his other documented works; and briefly traces the history of the Cistercian monastery, founded in the 12th c., abolished 1834. (The church and some buildings survive as ruins in the modern village of Marinha das Ondas.)
