Surveys exhibitions of Latin American art in the United States in the 1980s, commenting on their critical perspective; focuses on the exhibition, The Latin American Spirit: art and artists in the United States, 1920-1970, at the Bronx Museum (29 Sept 1988-29 Jan 1989), which included more than 250 works by 130 artists from 14 countries, representing a variety of styles. Also discusses the market for and recognition of Latin American art and artists in the United States.
