Abstract
(en)
Examines the symbolism of the theme of the clasping hand in Romanesque art, focusing on 12th c. baptismal fonts from the Hegwald workshop on Gotland. Notes that depending on the position of the hand, the gesture may have different meanings, such as grief and captivity.
