Reassesses Brunelleschi's relationship to Medieval architecture, especially Florentine Gothic, and to Medieval classicism. Examines his style and focuses on his early works in Florence, particularly the Palazzo di Parte Guelfa, the dome of the cathedral, the Ospedale degli Innocenti, the Old Sacristy of S. Lorenzo, and the Barbadori Chapel in S. Felicita. Includes discussion of links between Florence and Padua, and Early Renaissance culture in Padua.
