Abstract (en)
Analyzes changes over the course of the 15th c. in the iconography and style of images chosen by patrons and artists to illustrate the verbal message of Christine de Pisan. Begins with the miniatures produced 1404-1425 under the author's supervision, which emphasize the action between Christine, as author-protagonist, and the allegorical and historical figures comprising her City. The second group of miniatures, 1425-1465, shows the courtly loveliness of women rather than their dramatic action, while the third group, from the end of the century returns the focus to Christine and the Virtues as models of creative and constructive action.
