Abstract (en)

Attributes a sheet with copies of early Christian murals in the Catacombe dei Giordani, Rome, to the Flemish antiquarian Philips van Winghe. The drawing is in a miscellany owned by Nicolas Claude Fabri de Peiresc (Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale, Département des Manuscrits, lat.8957-8958, fol.393). Argues that a manuscript in the Vatican Library (Vat. lat. 10545) is in fact a copy by Peiresc of the notes and drawings of van Winghe.
