Detailed two-part study of the architecture of the town of Castro, destroyed in 1649 and excavated in 1960-1970. Includes descriptions and plans of the cathedral and other churches and of the fortifications by Antonio da Sangallo the younger, Carlo Soldati, and others. Reproduces Sangallo's drawings of Castro from the Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi, Florence.
