Abstract
(en)
Analyzes four Byzantine capitals incorporated as spolia in the architectural decoration of the madrasa at the mosque of Davut Pasha, Istanbul, and speculates on their origin. Compares them to surviving examples of architectural decoration from the church of S. Polyeuktos and concludes that they were probably made at about the same time (524-527) or shortly thereafter.
