Abstract (en)

Simple iron knives are found in 45 to 50 percent of 5th-7th c. burials in England. Analysis of inhumations from 47 cemeteries suggests regional and chronological differences and a correlation between the length of knife blades and the sex and age of the individuals buried with them.
