Argues that stylistic differences between Gildon's tombs to John Harford, 1573, and to Richard and Martha Harford, 1575 (Bosbury, Holy Trinity church) should be viewed in context of a less straightforwardly progressive perception of the development of taste for Renaissance style in England.
