Abstract (en)
Reviews the treatment of the motif, mainly in 17th c. painting. Adds a few depictions of Kostverloren that have surfaced since Frits Lugt published his Wandelingen met Rembrandt in en om Amsterdam (1915). Artists that painted views of Kostverloren include Rembrandt, Ruisdael, Hobbema and Kessel. Discusses the history of Kostverloren, ca.1500-1822, when the manor was destroyed; no trace of Kostverloren remains.
