Confirms the authorship of Jan van Bijlert's painting of Venus Chastising Amoretti, dated 1628, in Houston (Museum of Fine Arts), and argues that it is a pendant to Mars Bound by Amoretti (Norfolk, Chrysler Museum). Places the companion pieces in the iconographic tradition of the Venus and Mars theme.
