Chronological study of Leonardo's drawings of proportion and movement. Defines three types: anthropometric studies (1489-1493), geometric studies (1493-1498), and studies of movement unconstrained by measurement systems (after 1500). Argues that drawings in the Codex Huygens (New York, Pierpont Morgan Library) belong to the second type, while those in the Codex Urbinas (Rome, Vatican library) belong to the third.
