Discusses the politics involved in the disposition of various art treasures and, more especially, the coffins of Friedrich Wilhelm I, Friedrich II, and Paul von Hindenburg and his wife, discovered in the salt mine near Bernterode (Thuringia) at the end of World War II. Their disposition was initially overseen by the occupying American forces.
