Abstract (en)
Reports on limited excavation, 1984. Reveals evidence for late 12th-early 13th c. activity including architectural stone fragments and reused timber roof member, but no structures from this period. Stone-built channel and timber sluice-gate found, mid to late 13th c., which ties in with historical references to the establishment of a Dominican priory in the 13th c. Arched foundations to the north of the site represent possibly 16th c. building; some houses constructed 17th-18th cs. Finds include medieval and post-medieval pottery and 12th to 14th c. copper alloy crozier head.
