Abstract (en)
Field systems extending over a number of townlands around the two sites were laid out, probably between the 12th and 16th cs., in grid patterns using prominent ancient earthworks as landmarks. Several townland boundaries follow the banks of these old systems. In general, these systems appear to have been moribund by the time the present roads were constructed.
