Abstract (en)
Surveys the literature on Giovanni Agostino da Lodi and his identification as Pseudo Boccaccino (here confirmed on the basis of an inscription on a drawing on the art market in 1986) and as the painter known variously as Agostino Milanese, Agostino di Bramantino, and Agostino delle Prospettive. Reviews what is known of his life (birth in Lodi, training in Milan, activity in Venice); and examines his oeuvre, proposing attributions and chronology. Also presents evidence suggesting his collaboration with Giorgione, and his role in transmitting the Lombard style and the influence of Leonardo to Venice.
