Abstract (en)
On the 16th c. Venetian singer, lutenist and composer. Includes discussion of his relationship to Aretino, who mentions inviting him to dinner (perhaps figuratively, as each guest represents one of the arts) with Titian, Sansovino, and Franceschina Bellamano. Considers the suggestion that Titian's Venus and Cupid with a Lute-Player (Cambridge, Fitzwilliam Museum) may portray Franceschina as Venus and Tromboncino as the lutenist.
