Abstract (en)

Examines the conceptualization of self and the other across cultural boundaries in the early Spanish colonial period, considering both colonizer and colonized, and comparing as examples the illustrations of the 1553 publication of the Parte primera de la chrónica del Perú by the Spaniard Pedro de Cieza de León with those of the Nueva corónica y buen gobierno by Felipe Guamán Poma de Ayala, 1615.
