Abstract (en)

Observations on the current art scene in the Soviet Union in the age of perestroika, following attendance at a recent conference, "The Economics of culture: the basic facts about art in the free market", held at the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. The conference, involving American and Soviet art professionals, aimed to teach the Soviets about the international art scene and how to market Soviet art in the West. Quotes a number of Soviets, including Khoroshilov, who is currently in charge of the art export department of the Union of Soviet Artists.
