Index of the first four books of emblems and imprese to have appeared in England: Jan van der Noot's A Theatre for Worldlings (1569), Paolo Giovio's The Worthy Tract of Paulus Jovius (1585), Lodovico Domenichi's Certain Noble Devises both Militarie and Amorous (1585) and Geffrey Whitney's A Choice of Emblemes (1586). Four volumes are projected in this series.
