Discusses Verdcourt's group of sculptures, The Velazquez Girls, which the artist donated in 1989 to the Dowse Art Museum, Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The girls are parodies of the infantas and Queen Mariana which figure in the royal portraits of the 17th c. painter Diego Velázquez.
