Abstract (en)

Discusses Günther's unrealized design (ca.1735) for decorating the cupola of Mariä Himmelfahrt, Diessen am Ammersee. Günther's design is known from a preparatory study on a plaster model of the cupola (Ellwangen, Schlossmuseum). It is identified as a project for Diessen by comparing its iconography with the nearly identical cupola program actually carried out by Johann Georg Bergmüller in 1736.
