Comments on the current vitality of Cuban art, noting its relation to socio-political conditions in Cuba. Describes two major tendencies in Cuban art of the 1980s: a concern with Latin American issues, and a concern with native folk cultures. Discusses other influences including Western art and the Third World mentality.
