Reports on the preliminary results of an investigation of the foundation of the 13th c. Gothic cathedral at Amiens and how the foundation relates to the geology of the building site. The discussion refers to excavations carried out, 1850-1897, under the directions of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and Just Lisch.
