Shows that the painted decoration of the fire screen is based on a sample drawing of cartouches, 1687-1688, by an unknown Italian artist, perhaps a pupil of Carlo Maratta (Maratti). The drawing (Stockholm, Nationalmuseum) is one of several that Nicodemus Tessin II brought home from his study trip to Rome, 1687-1688, to use in the decoration of the palace.
