Paper presented at the colloquium, The Scientific Dimension of Cultural Development, Rome, Italy (29 Sept-2 Oct 1987). The French artist describes his use of the technology of shape-memory alloys (copper-zinc-aluminum, nickel-titanium) in his sculptures. The alloys 'memorize' different shapes at different temperatures, and this property adds a new dimension to these sculptures.
