Abstract (en)

Author describes the development of his five photographic series Idioms I through Idioms V (1973-1981). Brogowski explains that he has explored photography's meditative, silent aspect, and argues that silence in aesthetic contemplation does not mean an escape from the world but rather an opening for conversation.
