On the basis of an entry in the accounts for Etruria Hall (Stoke-on-Trent), proposes that William Blake was employed by Josiah Wedgwood ca.1784-1785 to transfer designs by Flaxman to a surface for painting and mounting as ceiling decoration. Blake's first contact with the Wedgwood family has previously been thought to date as late as 1815.
