Discusses the iconography of two medals, ca.1535-1545, with a phallic satyr head on the reverse; one medal depicts Pietro Aretino, the other Paolo Giovio. Notes that these examples of medallic art anticipate much that is considered most original in Arcimboldo's composite portraits.
