Discusses problems of the toponymy of the Medieval diocese of Cittanova (on the Istrian peninsula) in early documents. Describes the Early Christian architectural remains of the town of Cittanova (now Novigrad, YUG), 5th-6th cs. Also discusses and illustrates fragments of architectural decoration from an 8th c. ciborium (originally in the baptistery), whose patron was a bishop Mauricius, perhaps the "Mauritius, bishop of Istria" mentioned in early sources.
