Abstract (en)

Discusses 12th c. manuscripts transcribing the epitaphs in S. Maria dell'Ammiraglio (la Martorana), Palermo, and in the otherwise unknown church of "S. Maria Chrysè", which the author believes is another designation for the Martorana. Addresses the problem of the burial place of Teodula (d.1140), mother of George of Antioch (founder of the church in 1143) and rejects the arguments in favor of S. Maria della Grotta (now incorporated into the structure of the Casa Profetti dei Gesuiti, Palermo).
