Abstract (en)

Explores the conceit of "snowing on the canvas" as a metaphor for the "gradual cancellation or erasure of descriptive signifying content that has seemed to be a necessary and indeed overdetermined process in the technical resolution of Modernist painting," a notion which developed out of a conversation between the author and Michael Baldwin and Mel Ramsden, the artists of Art & Language.
