On the collections of moralizing stories used as the basis for sermons by Franciscans and Dominicans in the middle ages. Focuses on the Homo conditus written by the early 14th c. Swedish theologian Magister Mathias, the confessor of S. Birgitta. Points out the need for a study of the influence of such writings on religious painting in 15th c. Sweden.
