Seeks to establish the context for the sole surviving examples of Romanesque frescoes from the southern Trentino: the cycle in S. Lorenzo, Tenno, and fragments from S. Biagio in Mori, now in the Museo Provinciale d'Arte of the Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento. Argues that these frescoes are unrelated to Veronese Romanesque painting of the second half of the 12th c., and relates them instead to manuscript illumination in Salzburg, proposing a date in the mid-12th c. for the Tenno cycle and placing the fragments from Mori slightly earlier.
