Examines documentary evidence of the existence and function of the monastery of S. Martino, and of an oratorium as well, near the apse of old S. Peter's until the mid-15th c., including evidence that the chapel housed the bronze statue of S. Peter now in S. Peter's (Rome, Vatican).
