Surveys the scholarship with regard to the roles of Antonio and Piero Pollaiuolo in painting the Annunciation, 1470. Discusses patronage and suggests that Benedetto d'Antonio di Filippo Salutati commissioned the painting. Points to the background view of Florence as one of the earliest renderings of the city. Also discussed is the technical examination of both the Annunciation and David, the latter by Antonio alone. Both paintings are in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin.
