Critique of the documentary photographic project, Changing Chicago (1987-88), conceived to commemorate the invention of photography and the 50th anniversary of the Farm Security Administration Historical Section Project, and involving the establishment of an archive at the Chicago Historical Society, as well as five simultaneous theme exhibitions culled from the submitted photographs and held at participating institutions (the Art Institute of Chicago, the Historical Society, the Chicago Public Library Cultural Center, the Field Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography), and the publication of a book, Changing Chicago, a photo documentary.
