- Comments on the international and decidedly non-French focus of art events held in Paris during the summer of 1989, the bicentennial of the French Revolution. Cites in particular the Magicians of the earth exhibition at the Pompidou Center and the Great Hall of La Villette, which juxtaposes the current work of western and Third World artists; and Nam June Paik's video installation, La Fée Electronique (Electronic Fairy), set up in front of Raoul Dufy's mural painting, La Fée Electricité (Paris, Musée d'art moderne de la ville de Paris).
