Abstract (en)
Examines drawings of ancient Roman sculpture in the Codex Coburgensis (Coburg, Kunstsammlungen der Veste Coburg), and argues that they are all by the same hand with the exception of five or six. Believes that the anonymous artist, here referred to as the "Master of the Codex Coburgensis," was active in Rome about 1555 and that he may have been born in Rome or possibly in Mantua. Compares some of the illustrations in the Codex Coburgensis with those of the same subject matter in the Codex Pighianus (Berlin, Staatsbibliothek).
