Discusses an evangeliary commissioned by Emperor Henry II in 1022 from the scriptorium of S. Emmeram, Regensburg. Focuses especially on the imperial portrait of Henry II as a visualization of current legal ideas and political ideals regarding the virtues and ethical qualities of rulership.
