Discusses the work of the Medieval scriptorium of the abbey of San Clemente in Casauria, based on its only surviving product, the late 12th c. Liber instrumentorum seu chronicorum monasterii Casaurensis, commonly known as the Chronicon Casauriense (Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale, MS lat. 5411), of Giovanni di Berardo. Describes the particular variant of late Caroline minuscule used in this manuscript, and suggests that Beneventan script was probably also used in Casauria from the end of the 9th through the 10th century, although no examples survive. Also describes the decoration of the manuscript by the scribe, "magister Rusticus".
